New here?

Come in and sit down.

Your first Sunday, answered before you come: when we meet, where to find us, what the morning is like, and why you will feel at home.

We share fellowship after the service every week, over coffee or tea with muffins, donuts or cookies, and a potluck lunch on the last Sunday of each month. Everything is free, and everyone is welcome. Come for the whole morning, or just the service.

Sunday School is part of the same morning: the children begin the service with everyone, and go off to their own class after the singing.

Where

56 Mill Street, Warkworth.

The church is on Mill Street in the village of Warkworth, Ontario. If you would rather ask a person than a map, call (705) 312-8085.

The church seen from Mill Street: a light brick building with a wooden cross on the gable, arched windows along the side, and steps up from the road.

Look for the light brick church with a cross on the gable and arched windows along the side. You will know it when you see it.

The parking lot behind the church on a Sunday morning, with cars parked along both sides under tall maple trees.

There is a large parking lot behind the church, and street parking out front; both are free on Sunday. The back door by the lot has no steps, and an elevator runs down to the hall where we gather afterwards.

What happens

An honest service, centred on the Word.

Sunday is simple and honest: worship and singing, a passage read and explained, prayer. Each week we gather around the Lord’s table to give thanks. You can join in, or simply sit and take it in.

Children stay in the service with their families. Every week they sing a short song before going off to Sunday School, percussion and all.

Fellowship follows the service every week: coffee or tea at the tables, with muffins, donuts or cookies, and conversation that runs longer than the service intended. It is there for anyone who needs a connection, or simply someone to talk to. On the last Sunday of each month, we share a potluck lunch. It is the part of the morning people are slowest to leave.

Fitting in

You will fit right in.

The sign outside says “Come as you are”, and we mean it. Wear what you have on, sit wherever there is room, and make yourself at home.

Stay for as much of the morning as you like.

The congregation is small, friendly, and glad of new faces. You will be noticed, in the way that ends with a cup of tea and a seat beside someone.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

Your first Sunday

From the door to the table.

  1. The door is already open.

Arrive a few minutes early if you can; you are welcome whenever you arrive. There is free parking in the lot behind the church and on the street out front. Come on in. You are most welcome.

After the service: people greeting one another and embracing among the pews, children in their parents’ arms, and a table set with coffee, tea and muffins.
  2. Sit wherever there is room.

Come as you are, and bring the family: children are welcome in the service. The worship is honest and wholehearted.

  3. Stay and talk a while.

We stay for fellowship after the service every week, over coffee or tea, with muffins, donuts or cookies on the table. It is a time to talk, and it is there for anyone who needs a connection, or simply someone to talk to. On the last Sunday of each month we share a potluck lunch. Stay as long as you like. Your place is always here.

After the service.

Things to do in Warkworth after the service.

A walker on the Millennium Trail, beside the creek in spring.
The Centre & Main Chocolate Co. storefront on the main street.
The pond at the Warkworth Conservation Area in autumn colour, with a bench beside the path.
Shelves of kitchen tools and jars inside The Village Pantry.
A monarch butterfly resting on a leaf.
A shop porch on the main street, lit from inside, with planters of flowers along the rail.

Fellowship runs long, and the afternoon is yours. Warkworth is a village on seven hills, with a main street worth an hour, water to walk beside, and a few doors worth opening. A start:

  • The Burnley Creek Flower Farm. Cut flowers and honey from the farm, and classes through the year.
  • Warkworth Conservation Area. A pond with picnic tables and a playground, and the Lilac Trail around it.
  • The Millennium Trail. A wide, flat path along the water, with benches; a slow walk after church.
  • Centre & Main Chocolate Co. Chocolate made on the main street.
  • Cheeky Bee Gallery & Candle Company. Beeswax candles and work by local makers.
  • The Village Pantry. Cheeses, sauces and spices, and a wall of kitchen tools.

Hours vary, and some doors are closed on a Sunday; the trail and the conservation area are always open. The village’s own pages have more: Visit Trent Hills and warkworth.ca.

Before you go

“We love because Jesus first loved us.”

1 John 4:19

All are welcome.
